The Opportunity

Join the BREATH Team and contribute to important research improving respiratory health outcomes for children. We are seeking an organised and motivated Project Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day activities of the Kids Easy Breathing Study (KEBS), working closely with Study Investigators, the BREATH Team and the Program Manager. This role is ideal for someone passionate about health research, skilled in project coordination, and committed to making a real difference in the community.

Some of your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Coordinate participant recruitment, engagement, follow-up, and community engagement activities, ensuring respectful communication with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.

Manage data collection, entry and database systems in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.

Support ethics submissions, research governance reporting and general project administration.

Assist with laboratory activities, including biological sample processing and accurate record-keeping.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team to deliver high-quality project outcomes.

Contribute to team meetings, grant reporting, and ongoing project development initiatives.

The position is offered on a full-time basis for a 12-month parental leave cover period.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

A tertiary qualification in a health or science-related field (e.g., science, public health, physiology).

Experience coordinating research projects, with knowledge of research compliance frameworks and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Skills in participant engagement, including informed consent, and a strong understanding of working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Laboratory research experience, including biological sample processing and support for RNA/DNA preparation.

Strong organisational and time management skills, high attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with high-level computer literacy (Microsoft Office and database management).

Desirable:

Experience working in Aboriginal health research and with Aboriginal families or stakeholders.

Familiarity with research ethics processes (including RGS and WAAHEC).

Experience in database creation and management and handling biological sample shipments.
