About the role
Parliament of Tasmania offers a supportive environment to enable our employees to do the best work of their career. We’re looking to secure a new Parliamentary Educator.
The Parliamentary Educator assists the Senior Parliamentary Educator to develop and deliver curriculum-based parliamentary education programs and resources for school and community groups.
In conjunction with the Senior Parliamentary Educator, the Parliamentary Educator promotes public awareness of the purpose, functions and work of the Parliament to encourage and facilitate visits by the widest possible range of citizens.
As a trusted colleague, you’ll have professional flexibility to perform the role whilst being empowered to build a sense of community at work. You’ll be reporting to the Second Clerk-Assistant in the House of Assembly.
About Us
The Parliament of Tasmania is a meeting place where elected representatives meet to make laws, authorise the expenditure of public funds, scrutinise the government of the day, and give a voice to their constituents in the electorates. The Parliament is made up of three (3) separate Departments consisting of House of Assembly, Legislative Council, and Legislature - General.
Location
We foster a collaborative and engaging workplace. As such, this role is required to be performed in person and on site in Hobart.
We want to hear from you if you have
Hold, or have the ability to obtain, the Working with Vulnerable People Certification and a national police check.
Excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and dynamic curriculum-based programs for school children.
Excellent organisational skills.
Proven ability to provide great support to a diverse range of people in a respectful and flexible manner.
Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and the proven capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Excellent time management skills including a demonstrated ability to, prioritise, plan and organise work, exercise initiative, and appropriately apply judgement to ensure delivery to deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work flexible hours and days to support organisational needs.
Have or be able to obtain a working with vulnerable children check and national police check.
