About the role

As a senior leader of Oorala Centre, the Student Engagement Manager, is responsible for providing strategic direction and operational oversight for a range of programs and services designed to achieve more equitable access, participation and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in UNE courses. The Manager will directly supervise the Student Engagement Team Leader and the Student Experience Team Leader, providing leadership with regards to both future and current student initiatives.

This position reports to the Director of the Oorala Aboriginal Centre and operates under their general direction.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications, with rich lived experience—professionally, culturally and academically.

Demonstrated senior leadership experience and a track record of fostering leadership development across all levels of the organisation.

Proven ability to identify, develop, implement, and assess programs and services that strategically align with University goals and drive positive outcomes.

Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team that values unity and shared goals. You will also be skilled in working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, fostering impactful and enduring relationships.

Passion and commitment to advancing educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with a deep dedication to their success and well-being.

Proven experience and capability in project management, customer service and high-level administrative roles.
