About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Indigenous Australian Student Services (IASS) is dedicated to providing Indigenous Australian students with the support they need to access and thrive in higher education. IASS fosters a culturally safe environment built on academic, financial, and social-emotional support.

We are seeking a friendly and professional Student Management Officer to be the first point of contact for all Indigenous Australian student enquiries. In this role, you will deliver high-quality service and advice while playing a key part in enhancing the student experience.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Providing information and support to Indigenous Australian students on Student Services procedures, including orientation, accommodation, admission, enrolment, fees, and study entitlements.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective administrative and reception systems, such as filing, enquiry management, and reporting.
  • Collecting and monitoring statistical data on Indigenous Australian student participation and enrolment.
  • Contributing to the development of innovative initiatives to engage and support SCU’s Indigenous Australian students.
About you

This is an Indigenous identified position. Applicants must identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

You will be passionate about supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to achieve their study goals, with and understanding of, and empathy with their aspirations and support needs. In addition, you will possess:

  • An associate diploma level qualification with relevant work experience in a student administration environment or an equivalent combination of education, training or relevant work experience.
  • An ability to prioritise tasks and organise work with attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with initiative and ability to apply policy, procedures and guidelines.
  • Computer literacy and communication skills, commitment to cultural diversity, and working knowledge of equity principles in the workplace.
Salary and benefits

Our staff benefit from flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work models, generous parental and carer’s leave provisions, wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs and professional learning opportunities. This position is:

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent)
  • Located at our Coffs Harbour campus.
  • HEW Level 4. The base salary ranges from $72,947- $78,337 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $91,654.
