About the role
This role is responsible for overseeing and leading regulatory environmental health programs and regulatory operations for the council. Reports to the Director People and Places.This an onsite position.

Duties

• Lead and manage a team of Environmental Health Officers, Rangers, Natural Area Management Officer, Landcare Coordinator, Administration support and the Animal Shelter.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Manage animal control services and the operation of the animal shelter.
• Oversee inspections of various premises to ensure public health and safety.
• Provide oversight of environmental water sampling and contaminated land assessments.

Skills & experience

• 4-6 years of experience in environmental health, regulatory services, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of relevant environmental legislation, including the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and the Companion Animals Act 1998.
• Proven experience in building, managing and leading a team.
• Experience in conducting inspections and enforcing regulations.
