Are you committed to helping families create safe, stable, and nurturing environments for their children? We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Family Preservation Case Worker to join our dedicated team in Deniliquin and make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families in our community.

About the Role

As a Family Preservation Case Worker, you will work directly with families at risk of child protection intervention, helping them address challenges and build their capacity to provide safe and supportive homes. This role involves delivering practical support, coordinating services, and facilitating culturally safe and strengths-based interventions to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and families. This position is based in our Deniliquin Office.

Your responsibilities will include:

Engaging with families to understand their unique needs, strengths, and challenges.

Supporting families with practical advice and tools to address parenting challenges, family relationships, and household management.

In consultation with families and significant others develop, implement and review family action plans that include specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely goals and monitor the achievement of those goals.

Provide on call after hours services when rostered.

Assisting families in accessing essential community services, such as housing, education, health care, and financial support.

Working collaboratively with other professionals to ensure a coordinated and culturally appropriate response to the needs of each family.

Providing culturally safe support, respecting the values, traditions, and experiences of Aboriginal families and communities.

Ensuring accurate and timely documentation in line with NSW child protection legislation and organisational policies.

About You

You are passionate about empowering families to overcome obstacles and thrive. With strong interpersonal skills and a solution-focused approach, you can engage with families experiencing complex challenges and inspire positive change.

We are looking for candidates with:

Cert IV or Diploma in Community Services or extensive demonstrated experience in welfare and child protection areas.

Experience supporting families in areas such as family preservation, child protection, or community services.

Knowledge of NSW child protection legislation and an understanding of trauma-informed practices.

The ability to work with families facing challenges such as family violence, mental health concerns, substance use, and poverty.

A culturally competent approach, with experience working with Aboriginal families and an understanding of the importance of cultural safety.

Strong problem-solving skills, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.

Excellent organisational and communication skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

A current NSW Working with Children Check, a Driver’s License, and willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
