An established resort, Heron Island accommodates up to nearly 320 guests with the primary drawcard being located right on the Great Barrier Reef. There is a marine centre, activities centre, boutique, award-winning day spa, spacious lounge and bar overlooking the pool plus the expansive Shearwater Restaurant. Marine activities for guests and staff include world-class diving, snorkeling, kayaking and cruises.

We are currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Duty Manager to assist in the day to day running of of the front office area with strong night audit experience.

This role will involve:

• Hands-on front office operations, leading and supporting the reception team in daily duties
• Welcome and assist with all guest arrivals, departures and requests
• Performing the assigned opening or closing operations of the Hotel on a rotating roster across 7 days plus night audit relief
• Ensuring excellence and consistency in customer service.
• Assisting with administration, rostering, training, and supervision of staff.
• Strong understanding of financial controls
• Actively resolve guest issues and challenges presented on shift, including responding to guest feedback

The successful applicant will possess:

• Previous 2 years of experience in a similar role
• Previous island resort experience a plus
• Opera PMS experience required
• Good knowledge of Hotel Operations
• Experience in the supervision and motivation of team members.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent personal presentation.
• A positive, friendly, can-do attitude - a real team player

This is a full-time live on island position.
