The Role

The Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Manager is a senior key leadership position focused on driving a safety-first culture, championing wellbeing across MMP’s diverse operations, and ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards in a unique industry This role leads the implementation and continuous improvement of MMP’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) strategy and systems, with a strong emphasis on injury prevention, risk management, and psychological safety. The role collaborates with key stakeholders across the business to enhance safety, wellbeing, and compliance, creating a resilient and supportive workplace for our employees.

Responsibilities:

Lead the implementation of the WHS strategy that aligns with MMP's objectives and drives safety excellence across all sites.

Champion our safety culture by instilling a safety-first mindset and embedding best practices in risk assessment, hazard management, and incident response.

Oversee risk management initiatives and incident/injury management frameworks, ensuring proactive risk mitigation.

Drive continuous improvement through implementation of training programs, performance metrics, and wellbeing initiatives to drive WHS performance and our safety culture.

Partner with business unit leaders, providing expert advice and guidance on WHS policies, procedures, and compliance.

Lead the development of programs that foster psychological safety and address mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing.

Oversee WHS performance reporting, using data to inform decisions and improve overall safety outcomes.

Work closely with leadership, the WHS team, and external stakeholders to foster strong relationships and ensure consistent delivery of WHS services.

Regularly provide insights and strategic recommendations on WHS performance and areas for improvement.

Requirements:

Tertiary qualifications in WHS (Advanced Diploma or Graduate Diploma level) or equivalent experience.

Proven track record in developing and implementing a WHS system and frameworks across multiple locations, with a thorough understanding of risk management, injury management, and compliance.

Exceptional interpersonal and leadership abilities, with experience leading teams and driving cultural change.

Experience designing and delivering WHS training programs and wellbeing initiatives that promote psychological safety.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders.

Ability to analyse complex safety data and make strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
