About the Role
The People Advisor, an integral member of the People team, provides proactive support to team goals and individual responsibilities. This role involves delivering high-quality service and commercial support to the People team, Partners, Practice Groups, and employees on various People matters. The position aims to enhance the People team's positive reputation internally and externally, ensuring excellence and quality standards are consistently met.
Responsibilities
Serve as the daily contact for Practice Groups and employees, offering advice on policies and procedures.
Assist Business Partners with disputes, grievances, employment relations, performance, and disciplinary issues.
Support injury management and WorkCover claims.
Maintain and update People systems, ensuring compliance.
Report on People metrics at team, Practice Group, and Firm levels.
Promote positive firm culture by implementing survey actions.
Provide administrative support, including employment contracts, letters, payroll, and ad hoc documents.
Manage People risks through periodic audits and ensure current practising certificates.
Track tasks and projects for effective People team operations.
Coordinate the People mailbox and respond to Level 2 queries.
Manage monthly leave reports and facilitate various leave applications.
Notify Payroll of approved applications.
Facilitate recruitment screening and candidate interviews.
Coordinate new employee induction and ensure workplace training enrollment.
Manage onboarding and ensure legal compliance.
Facilitate departure processes and conduct exit interviews with analysis reports.
Support work experience student onboarding.
Assist with annual performance reviews, remuneration, and talent reviews.
Manage employee secondments and liaise with businesses.
Assist the L&D team with generating study agreement letters and CDP/MCLE attendance/completion reporting.
Assist with ad-hoc projects as required.
About You
Undergraduate degree in Business Management or Human Resources Management
Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Understanding of the business and commercial context within which the Human Resources team operates
Excellent understanding of Human Resources policies, processes and procedures
Broad understanding of Legal Services Award classifications and categories
Broad understanding of the Fair Work Act
Minimum of 2 years strong secretarial / administrative experience preferably within a Human Resources environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
Acts in a professional and responsible manner, maintaining honest and integrity
