RATES OFFICER
About the opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a committed local government team and contribute to making a meaningful difference in the regional community. As a Rates Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Council’s rates functions and ensuring the smooth administration of statutory requirements. In this position, you will work closely with a supportive team, contributing to the development of annual rate modelling, monitoring rates collection, and maintaining an accurate property database. This role offers variety, a chance to develop your professional skills, and the opportunity to support your local community in a meaningful way. An immediate start is required for the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain an up-to-date property database for all Council properties.
Assist with Annual Rate Modelling and Business Plan preparation.
Issue rate notices, monitor rates collection, and follow up on overdue payments.
Address ratepayer enquiries regarding property data and rates.
Ensure accurate assessment records for Rate Notices and Voter’s Roll.
Comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and uphold Council values.
This is a full-time position and classified at Level 4 of the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Associated Enterprise Agreement.
Training will be provided for the right candidate, offering the opportunity to develop skills in the specific systems and processes used by the Council.
About you
To be considered for this position, you must have:
Experience in a similar role, ideally within local government.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
Knowledge of the Local Government Act and rating systems.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
A commitment to maintaining a safe work environment in line with WHS policies.
