How it Works:

Our Graduate Production Agronomist role is a unique opportunity to learn the intricacies of the seed industry through on-the-job training alongside experienced production staff. Our graduate program equips you with the technical knowledge and practical stills to effectively transition into a permanent production agronomist position.

This role is responsible for monitoring and management of production crops and trial sites in order to produce the highest quality and highest yielding crops to meet production plans.

This role offers a 2-year program with key learning opportunities within the Production Agronomy team as well as opportunities with across other facets of the business. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow professionally from entry level position into the agriculture production industry.

This role preferred base of operations would be Echuca VIC or Denilliquin NSW and GenTech Seeds may assist the preferred candidate with moving expenses to support this relocation.

About the Role:

Every day is different, and you will work within a Production Agronomy team to execute all operational requirements around the production cycle. There will also be opportunities to be exposed to other areas of the business including sales and research.

A typical day could include:

Manage field activities in accordance with the field production plan

Assisting with flowering tests and trial sites including agronomy, collection of data and quality checks

Grower management and support (contracts, acreage planning, quality control, pest management etc.)

Coach growers on developing production management programs which enhance grower profitability.

Field planting, isolation, roguing, and harvesting operations

Professional Development

The successful candidate will receive on the job learning based on localised operations specific to the production agronomy team to ensure you gain a thorough understanding of all elements in the production agronomy life cycle.

Further your learning and career development opportunities through scheduled short term and long-term courses to ensure you are developing your skills whilst working with us here at GenTech Seeds.

Attendance at department specific and all company conferences to promote cross collaboration and learning for all business units here at GenTech Seeds.

About You:

To be successful in this role you must have a passion and experience in agriculture. An undergraduate degree in Agricultural Science or similar would be beneficial, however is not essential with the right level of experience.

Key criteria include:

Strong interpersonal skills

Current manual driver’s license

Passion for agriculture and previous experience in agricultural field work

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills both online and face to face

Strong organisational skills

Knowledge of field equipment is preferable but not essential

Microsoft Office experience, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
