Our client is a well-established, global company that manufacturers industrial electrical products from more than 100 manufacturing sites around the world. The company has a strong brand built on a long-term presence in the Australian market, in addition to operating in more than 50 other countries and employing more than 30,0000 staff globally. Currently, there is an exciting opportunity to join the Australian team in the role of QLD Business Development Manager.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, some of your key areas of focus and involvement will be the following:
- Identifying, tracking and delivering a major project pipeline in key sectors that include rail, mining, oil & gas, OEM and the renewables sector;
- Managing a select group of key accounts in the above sectors that have long term supply agreements;
- Early-stage engagement with key customers to understand the decision-making process, while influencing product specifications;
- Providing guidance to the company’s inhouse contracts and tender team on bid and tender strategy;
- Negotiating supply contracts for major projects, with the support of the Commercial Manager;
- Working with key accounts to ensure SLAs and continuous improvement targets are achieved;
- Keeping up to date project tracking and customer information in Salesforce;
- Assisting in the achievement of volume, margin and business development targets; and
- Participating in project kick off meetings and ensuring project supply contracts run smoothly.
Required Experience
- Prior experience in a similar Business Development role within the electrical, construction or industrial materials sector;
- Demonstrated experience winning and delivering large / major projects in the infrastructure, mining, oil & gas or renewables sector;
- Well-developed commercial, negotiation and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver customer satisfaction to large key accounts;
- Strong planning and time management skills, coupled with a high attention to detail;
- Highly motivated with strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; and
- Computer literate, with prior experience utilising CRM’s and project tracking sites.
