A bit about the role

In this role you will lead the business partnering function for City of Casey’s Procurement team by building strong stakeholder relationships and driving the development and execution of key category (and sub-category) sourcing strategies and initiatives.

Lead and manage a designated portfolio defining the most appropriate market-engagement approach, selecting, negotiating, and contracting to achieve value for money outcomes.

Lead the team in delivering proactive and responsive procurement services and advice.

What you’ll deliver

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders as central point of contact to understand business requirements and align category management strategies with organisational objectives.
  • Work proactively with stakeholders to coordinate and oversee the annual procurement planning process to enable a strong strategic procurement approach.
  • Provide advice on techniques and actions to manage risk for high value complex procurements and relationships, working closely with stakeholders to identify and manage risks which may arise from procurement activity and supply base arrangements.
  • Conduct market analysis and supplier evaluations to identify potential cost reduction opportunities and mitigate risks, including by remaining informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes that may impact category management strategies.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favourable terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.

What you’ll bring

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as commerce, finance or economics is desirable and/or significant relevant working experience in a similar capacity commensurate with the requirements of the role.
  • Demonstrated procurement experience within a Public Sector or Public Service environment is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in the development, creation and execution of Category Management Strategies with measurable and achievable savings/reductions and value delivery.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyse and interpret complex technical documents, including but not limited to architectural, engineering, fire and mechanical documents or Information Technology related documents.
  • Extensive and hands-on experience executing all aspects of the end-to-end indirect supply chain and procurement lifecycle – including category strategy and management, source to contract market activities, negotiation and execution, performance management and risk management processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written, analytical and verbal skills to communicate with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
