The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Quality and Innovation Unit provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, programs, models and policies for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Well-being. The Unit will develop and manage to maturity; enhanced service delivery models in new and expanded functional IUIH services and programs.

About the Role?

The Senior Data and Reporting Analyst plays a key role in supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role is responsible for responding to data requests from staff, including ad-hoc queries, scheduled reports, and dashboard development. Additionally, the analyst contributes to the maintenance and expansion of the data warehouse, ensuring data integrity, quality, and accessibility.

Day to Day Duties Include

  • Respond to data requests from staff across the organization, providing timely and accurate insights.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to scope new data, reporting, and dashboard requirements.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using a variety of tools and platforms (i.e. Tableau, SQL, Microsoft Fabric).
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the organization’s data warehouse and ETL processes, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Implement and maintain data validation processes to improve data accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide training and support for staff to enhance the effective use of data.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of documentation, including requirements documents, data dictionaries, user guides and learning material.
  • Maintain a consultative and flexible engagement with stakeholders across IUIH around existing and ongoing data requests.
  • Contribute to the development of data literacy across the IUIH network, and by supporting CQI initiatives.

About You?

  • Experience working as a data analyst in the health care sector, specifically working with routinely collected health data and associated data management standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, and ETL processes.
  • Ability to translate stakeholder needs into actionable data solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to engage and educate a range of stakeholders, report data and highlight outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualification (or experience) in data related discipline, Health Information Management, or business intelligence background.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD).
  • Current Criminal History Check.

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to understand and map end-to-end data flow, from user input in the EMR through extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) into the data warehouse, to its final presentation in reports and dashboards.
