Story Fresh has a position for an experienced vegetable seedling grower at the Cambooya nursery. This is a permanent, full time position and requires flexibility to ensure regular tasks, such as seeding, meet farm production schedules. Occasional Saturday work will be required.

As a year-round supplier of fresh, ready-to-eat salad lines, Story Fresh operates six vegetable production farms for continuity of supply. The plant nursery produces vegetable transplants for these farms all year.

General daily tasks include seeding, watering and fertilising, plant pallet movements with a forklift, spray applications and other general nursery duties such as weed control. Support and training in the Company's systems will be provided.

Ideally, candidates shall have demonstrated experience in a seedling production nursery. A formal qualification in horticulture would be an advantage.

This is a hands on role that requires monitoring seedling growth, adapting agronomic practices, identifying and managing pests and diseases, competently and safely operating forklifts and nursery equipment.

As a daily hands-on role, much of which is outside work, it requires:

a current Chemcert ticket or similar

a current forklift license

an open Australian driver's license

own reliable transport and

a good level of physical fitness.

Nursery tasks support each production farm:

by timely preparation of transplants for planting and/or transport to other farms

good nursery practices to grow transplants that suffer minimal transplant shock

implementing all crop husbandry practices correctly and at the right time; and

completing all documentation, weekly stocktakes and other records.

This position is also responsible for the implementation of the Pest Control Program in and around the various infrastructure at Cambooya.

Renumeration will reflect current market conditions and the Horticulture Industry Award and will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
