About us

Swiss Steel Australia is part of the global Swiss Steel Group of companies and has been operating in Australia for over 40 years. Locally we are a small business but we belong to a network of over 30 locations and 7,000 employees worldwide. The focus of our business is on the sales and distribution of steel manufactured by our own steel mills in Europe. Our Springvale service center provides cutting, machining and grinding services and distributes to our customers throughout Australia and New Zealand. This is an opportunity to become a valued member of a very close-knit team of experienced workers. Full training will be provided and the role can be modified to suit the skillset of the successful candidate.

Qualifications & experience

• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• A knowledge of engineering metals and particularly in Tool Steel is an advantage but not necessary as full training is provided
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, diligence and integrity
• The ability to use or the willingness to learn to use a forklift is highly desirable as it assists with multi tasking and assisting with loading customer orders if required. This is not a prerequisite.
• It would suit anyone with the right attitude to learn and the willingness to be a productive part of a team.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Processing inbound sales related phone calls and emails
• Developing a strong relationship with customers over the phone
• Data entry into an SAP computer system
• Booking freight collection both interstate and local
• Performing stock-take as required
• Assisting with weekly invoicing as required
• Raising local purchase orders
• General office duties as required
• Potential to develop into an external sales rep role for the right candidate
