Adecco is recruiting on behalf of our client for a proactive Production Engineer to join their high-performing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on, process-driven individual to make a direct impact on the efficiency and productivity of a cutting-edge manufacturing operation. You’ll play a key role in optimising production workflows, equipment, and layouts—translating improvements into real-world gains on the shop floor.

As part of a dynamic and collaborative environment, you’ll be working closely with production teams, engineers, and associates to refine processes, introduce tooling enhancements, and support seamless production transitions from prototype to scale.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll dive into hands-on engineering work—analysing current practices and proposing actionable changes. Your day will be varied, with a strong focus on time studies, tooling design, and process improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively reviewing production processes, equipment, and floor layouts for optimization and waste reduction
  • Conducting detailed time and motion studies to set accurate production targets
  • Designing fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing aids to improve process efficiency
  • Leading Kaizen projects to drive operational improvements
  • Preparing and updating work instructions and training documentation
  • Managing assigned projects to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to scope and budget
  • Collaborating closely with Production Associates, providing training and ongoing support to build team capability
  • Playing a key role in production handovers from development to manufacturing

You’ll be expected to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement, always keeping the well-being of team members top of mind while striving for operational excellence.

Your Profile

We’re looking for an experienced and pragmatic engineer who thrives on the production floor and brings a practical mindset to solving problems. You will ideally meet the following criteria:

  • Full working rights (Australian citizenship or permanent residency
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Toolmaking, or a related field (TAFE or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Process or Production Engineering
  • Strong background in defining standard procedures and conducting detailed time studies (chrono, MTM, etc.)
  • Competent in data analysis (including MS Excel and pivot tables)
  • Proficiency in 3D parametric modelling (CADCAM, Solid Edge, or SolidWorks)
  • Proven experience designing and developing production tooling and fixtures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive, proactive, and practical attitude
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor and engaging with all levels of the organization
