About our team
You will be joining our collaborative and driven team, who thrive in using modern technologies and platforms which are leading the way with Product Management, Extreme Programming (XP), and User-Centred Design to ensure the customer is at the core of everything we do.
Our team is the driving force of digital transformation in NSW. By thinking smarter and adapting ahead of the curve, we are here to make a meaningful impact for the people of NSW. Together, we define change, and in doing so, we grow our diverse talent while building something to be proud of.
About the role
The Principal Product Manager role is responsible for developing a cohesive vision and strategic direction for a single product, multiple products or a complex subsystem product. The role establishes an effective product team culture and capability to support the development and management of Service NSW products which deliver meaningful customer value and deliver policy and government objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Establish the team's vision, strategy and outcome-based roadmap, considering success metrics and go-to-market strategies
- Ensure that products or initiatives with high levels of risk are identified and these risks are addressed at the right time to enable timely delivery
- Focus on creating connected teams across multiple product portfolios, communicating effectively at all levels, internally and externally
- Ask the right questions, help the team craft solutions and deliver validated digital products to our users
- Communicate clearly with everyone to continuously improve how you work together and ensure everyone is happy, productive, efficient and operating with our customers' interests at our core, and aligned with government priorities.
Who would be a perfect fit for this role
- Someone who enjoys bringing a cross-functional team together and going deep into a domain
- Someone who brings a balanced, holistic and flexible mindset to product development
- Someone who is comfortable with ambiguity. We work in an iterative and incremental way, balancing many different inputs and constantly making trade-offs. This requires us to be comfortable moving forward with imperfect information
- Someone who can't get enough of product and learning
- Someone who challenges mindsets, resolves conflict and can influence to get an outcome.
On your first day, you'll have
- Product Management experience working in a lean environment and successfully shipped digital products with great customer experience and journeys
- Solid experience in leading through facilitation
- Strong stakeholder management skills - proven ability to establish relationships and lead discussions with various partners and executives
- Ability to collaborate effectively across the organisation to get things done and proactively resolve problems
- Ability to break down complex problems into actionable steps
- Ability to create strategies, outcome-based roadmaps, iterate as required and deliver artefacts within agreed timeframes
- You have been responsible for and contributed to more than just product development.
Support office roles will be headquartered across McKell, Parramatta and Gosford. We will consider role headquarters outside of the above locations where the role can reasonably be performed from that location taking into consideration the operational, financial and customer requirements of the role, and an ability to attend a NSW Government workplace as required. At the point an employee is notified of our intention to assign them to a role, the relevant leader will discuss headquarter options.
