The Role
The Response & Connection Practitioner will service the VictimConnect Line based in central Brisbane office across a 24/7 roster. This role is casual, from 26.05.2025 – 05.09.2025. The successful candidate will be expected to work a combination of overnight and day shifts across a 2-week rotating roster.
As a Response & Connection Practitioner for VictimConnect, you will focus on providing high-quality support to Queenslanders who have been impacted by an interpersonal violent crime. Although no two days are the same, you can expect to assist inbound callers by providing crisis counselling, information, risk assessment and referral pathways for additional support, such as specialised counselling from our highly skilled Specialist Counsellors. The role works collaboratively with Queensland Police, Victims Assist Queensland, 54 Reason and other community services. It is important that our practitioners maintain and build positive working relationships with external stakeholders to facilitate smooth referral pathways for all clients accessing our service.
The Roster
This role is casual, from 26.05.2025 – 05.09.2025. Please note that shift times are non-negotiable:

Applicant Requirements
Completed bachelor's degree in fields such as (or relevant to) human services, social work, counselling, or psychology.
Minimum two (2) years' professional experience within the social and community services sector. Must have experience with assessing client risk and safety , referrals, safe de-escalation skills, and upholding client confidentiality and privacy.
Client intake and/or brief counselling experience – highly desirable.
Competent IT literacy and telephone communication skills with a proven ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively. Must be able to efficiently type case notes during calls and maintain database accuracy.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively.
Strong understanding of the effects causes and dynamics of Domestic, Family & Sexual violence.
Ability to collaborate and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including both sector and non-sector partners.
Experience (or a strong understanding) in providing supportive and culturally safe spaces for diverse groups, including First Nations peoples, individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with a diagnosed disability, and members of the LGBTQI+ community.
Must be available to attend and successfully complete the initial 3-week training program (1-week full-time classroom-based learning + 2 weeks of buddy/shadow shifts) prior to commencing your agreed roster.
Must currently hold or be willing to obtain a (P) BlueCard.
Must be willing to complete a National Crime Check (NCC). Employment is subject to NCC outcome.
Hold a valid photo ID.

• ProCare Category 3 Rates + 11.5% Superannuation.
