Our Client
Our client is a leading provider of evidence-based and trauma-informed services for people impacted by all forms of personal violent crime, including those who use and experience violence in their relationships. Their purpose is to create pathways for a life free from violence and fear.
This opportunity is a temporary locum contract with a Brisbane Domestic Violence service, working through Labour Hire with ProCare Australia.
The Role
The VAQ FAA Practitioner will assist victim-survivors on the waitlist to complete the VAQ Financial Assistance application. The practitioner will provide trauma-informed support via outbound calls, guiding clients through the application process following experiences of violent crime.
Practitioners may also deliver psychological first aid and emotional support, including CBT-based techniques, risk assessments, safety planning, and referrals. Accuracy and timely documentation are critical for ensuring client safety and service quality.
The role requires collaboration, upholding organisational values, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, and contributing to a positive team environment. Practitioners are expected to engage in continuous learning, attend relevant meetings, and participate in improvement initiatives. Ongoing supervision and professional development are provided to support well-being and performance.
Working Hours
This role is casual, starting ASAP until June 30th, 2025.
General working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, however reduced work hours/days are also available.
Applicant Requirements
Bachelors degree in a Human Services related field preferred, however a Diploma with considerable experience would be accepted
Demonstrated experience working with people who have been impacted by violence and an understanding of a trauma-informed approach
Ability to manage competing tasks within agreed timeframes, including planning, implementation, and coordination of practical support or case management
Demonstrated experience navigating sensitive situations calmly and professionally
Cultural responsiveness and commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
