Discover Counselling Services is a registered NDIS provider for Positive Behaviour Support and Therapeutic intervention. We are based in Algester, Queensland and provide services to Brisbane and surrounding areas. Discover Counselling Services specialises in dual diagnosis (mental health and disability) and works with participants aged 7 years and up.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide specialist behaviour support to participants with complex behaviour needs.

Conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments.

Develop individualised Positive Behaviour Support Plans in consultation with families and key stakeholders.

Provide training and support to implementing providers in the participants behaviour support plan.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour support plans.

Liaise and work collaboratively with stakeholders.

Provide evidence based therapeutic supports.

Maintain detailed, accurate and up to date records.

Achieve set KPI’s.

Hold a current QLD Drivers Licence.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

Professional registration as a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist or other Allied Health Practitioner.

Current working with children and NDIS worker screen check (or able to obtain).

Must have undergone suitability assessment as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with the Quality and Safeguards Commission and hold a Behaviour Support Practitioner number.

Current First Aid certificate.

Experience:

Demonstrated experience working with complex or challenging behaviours.

Proven ability to provide client centred supports to people who have a disability / mental health.

Demonstrated experience in developing and supporting the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans.

Experience in delivering evidence based therapeutic interventions.

Skills:

Excellent interpersonal communication.

Excellent assessment and report writing skills.

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Ability to analyse and interpret behavioural data.

Good organisational skills.

Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills.

Able to prioritise and meet organisational deadlines and KPI’s.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Knowledge and understanding of the NDIS Act and Rules in relation to behaviour support and the use of restrictive practices.

Knowledge and understanding of the Disability Services Act 2006 (QLD).

Remuneration

SCHCADS Award – level 4 ($85 120.36 – $91 586.56) plus superannuation in accordance with legislative requirements.
