The Shire of Kojonup is now recruiting a Works Supervisor to join the Works and Infrastructure team on a full-time basis.

The key responsibilities of this role are to

Complete assigned tasks to a high standard and within Council’s policies and procedures

Ensure that all materials supplied, and contractors used meet Councils required quality controls

Instruct and supervise staff to enable them to perform their duties safely and professionally

Prepare for and lead daily prestart meetings

Report to Manager Works & Infrastructure about any Council asset and recommend courses of action when necessary

Report all hazards, near misses, injuries, incidents to Manager Works & Infrastructure immediately

Ensure that work is delivered soundly, in accordance with work plans/projects

Expertly operate and maintain plant and equipment and facilities safely and in accordance with Council standards

Ensure plant and equipment is accounted for and checked at the end of each day

Create and review Safe Work Method statements (SWMS)

Assist Manager Works & Infrastructure with financial planning including annual budget preparation

Check and ensure accuracy of employee’s daily timesheets

Assist with updating and developing Works Program (annually); and

Assist with updating and developing Plant Replacement Program (annually).

Essential criteria

Basic knowledge of project management

Knowledge and experience of supervising the construction and maintenance of roads

Operational knowledge and experience of plant and equipment

Understanding of MRWA Specifications, quality control and contractor management

Experience using Microsoft Office suite

Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks

Sound written and oral skills, ability to communicate clearly

Strict adherence to Work Health and Safety policies and procedures

Desirable criteria

Traffic management experience

Read and interpret plans

Other relevant qualifications and licences for plant equipment operation

Qualifications and/or training

HR Class drivers’ licence

HC drivers’ licence (desirable)

WHS White/Blue Card

First Aid Certificate (or ability to complete)

Either Cert III or Cert IV in Civil Construction (desirable)

Basic Worksite Traffic Management (or similar); and

Current licences and accreditations relevant to operating plant and equipment

Employment offer

This role will be offered on a contracted basis between 3 and 5 years based on performance. The remuneration component of this position will range between $92,000.00 and $102,000.00 per annum plus superannuation, with the final offer being dependent on the successful applicant’s level of experience and qualifications. The remuneration package also includes negotiated private use of a vehicle and subsidized housing.
