What You'll Be Doing:

• Prepare a variety of mouth-watering dishes across multiple kitchen stations - pantry, fry, and more!
• Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications set by the Executive Sous Chef.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen, following strict sanitation procedures.
• Handle special dietary requests, ensuring dishes meet customer food allergies or intolerance requirements.
• Ensure meals are cooked and plated efficiently and on time, especially during peak service periods.
• Be a key part of the team, collaborating with your colleagues to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

Applicants must be available to work rostered shifts including weekdays, after hours, and weekends as per the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre requirements.

Culinary Creativity:

• Bring your culinary creativity to life by experimenting with new recipes and presentation styles.
• Collaborate with the Executive Sous Chef to develop seasonal menus that highlight fresh, local ingredients.
• Take part in special events and themed nights, showcasing your innovative dishes to our guests.
• Stay updated with the latest food trends and incorporate them into our offerings to keep our menu exciting and dynamic.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

• 1+ year of hands-on experience in a bustling commercial kitchen.
• Senior level Secondary School education.
• Excellent communication, top-notch time management, and strong teamwork skills.
• Tech-savvy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and email.
• Physically fit-able to stand for long hours and lift up to 20kg.
• Solid knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and cost control.
• A professional diploma in food services management is a plus!
