About Us

We are the pet lover’s choice! Hanrob are passionate pet people and we strive to deliver health, happiness, and improved wellbeing to Australian pet families. From humble beginnings at our flagship pet hotel in Heathcote, NSW, we are now the leading professional in the pet service industry.

Our strong and proud history has enabled the acquisition of eight pet hotels which offer pet boarding, dog training, and doggy day-care. In addition, we offer specialised services in animal transportation; leading the change in animal movements, and vocational education; inspiring the future of professional pet careers through Hanrob College.

With 40 years of experience and over 250 powerful pet loving staff, we are making leaps and bounds in the petcare industry as we continue to lead the future of pet services in Australia.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and mature animal lover with a keen eye for detail, a customer-focused mindset, and a genuine appreciation for variety in their workday. This is an exciting, newly created part-time role for a dedicated All-Rounder to perform a blend of Doggie Daycare, Pet Transport, and odd jobs for our Pet Hotel in Mascot, near Sydney’s Domestic Terminal. The base contract will guarantee 20 to 25 hours per week. Extra shifts are available to be worked during peak periods (school holidays, Easter and Christmas) requiring the successful candidate to be available to work 35-38 hours per week. This “All-rounder” role will include various duties that contribute to the smooth operation of the business, including washing vans, lawnmowing, and cleaning.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing high quality pet welfare and care for doggy daycare guests which includes cleaning kennels, supervising play-yards, entertaining the dogs and having fun!
  • Providing excellent customer service when engaging with our clients at pick up and drop off.
  • Safely operating a company vehicle to transport pets in a comfortable and secure manner, including loading and unloading pets and ensuring their safety and wellbeing during transport.
  • General odd jobs and cleaning duties which vary daily/weekly, so you could be mowing a lawn one day and assembling transport crates the next; and then building enrichment equipment & toys for the pets the following day - you will be hands-on in multiple areas of the facility!

About You

You are reliable, motivated, and experienced in caring for animals, with genuine affection for cats and dogs. You have a clean driving record, and a current, unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence. Additionally, to be a high performer in this role, you will be:

  • Flexible and able to work a varied roster depending on operational demands.
  • Available to work a variety of shifts between the hours of 4am and 11pm Monday to Sunday.
  • Able to increase your availability to work up to 38 hours during Easter, Christmas, and school holidays/peak periods.
  • Experience working in vet clinics, doggy daycares, kennels, catteries, or animal welfare organisations (HIGHLY DESIRABLE).
  • Able to undertake general odd jobs and demonstrate problem solving skills, including working with basic tools & equipment (screwdrivers, wrenches, lawnmower, whipper-snipper, etc).
  • Certified in animal studies and/or companion animal services (preferred).
  • The holder of an unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence, with a clean driving record (evidence must be supplied before Employment Offers will be made and/or Contracts issued).
  • Prepared to jump at the chance to help others in your team.
  • Able to work at a brisk pace and carry out tasks to required timeframes.
  • Able to work independently, and willing to ask for guidance for more complex matters.
  • A good communicator and positive person who enjoys teamwork.
  • Willing and able to adhere to Hanrob Pet Hotels' operating procedures and Work Health & Safety requirements at all times.
  • Enjoy practical, hands-on work with the attitude of getting things done.

IMPORTANT: This is an active and physical role working across the Pet Hotel, requiring you to drive a large van and be able to lift and secure animals into enclosures and cages for safe transporting. The incumbent will be required to work indoors and outdoors (sometimes in inclement weather conditions), and in close proximity to cats and dogs, on their feet for a significant portion of their day. They must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, bend, crouch, kneel, squat, reach, stretch, and restrain animals up to 50kg on leads, communicate, speak, and interact with team members, customers, internal and external stakeholders, and members of the public in person, in order to perform the inherent requirements of the role.

  • Full training and support in a friendly team culture.
  • Ongoing training and learning opportunities.
  • Nation-wide career development opportunities for your journey in the growing Petcare Industry.
