Arriscar Pty Limited is a bespoke process safety and risk engineering consultancy operating in Sydney and Melbourne and delivering to clients worldwide. We enable clients to reduce risks associated with the manufacturing, transport, storage and handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods by:
Identifying potential hazards by facilitating HAZOPs, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses, and other hazard identification techniques;
Determining the extent and severity of incidents involving hazardous materials using a variety of computer models including DNV Phast/Safeti, Fire Dynamics Simulator, and other tools;
Estimating the frequency of hazardous events using Layer of Protection Analysis, Fault and Event Trees, historical data, and expert judgement;
Combining the above to estimate the risk of hazardous operations using specialised software and assess the risk against a variety of criteria.
Our clients operate in a range of industries including the oil & gas sector, chemical manufacturing, utilities, renewable energy, dangerous goods transport, and hazardous waste management. We also have several clients that provide environmental consultancy services and urban planning services to property developers. Our clients operate in a number of Australian States and Territories, as well as overseas.
The Opportunity
Due to an expansion of business activity, an opportunity for a process safety and risk consultant is now available, that will suit a chemical engineering graduate with 2 - 3 years experience.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will report to one of the company directors. Your responsibilities will include:
Working as a team member under supervision, delivering process safety and risk services to a wide range of clients
Performing consequence assessments under the guidance of more senior personnel
Preparing reports or presentations and recording workshop minutes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A recognized degree in Chemical or Process engineering
Good written and oral communication skills
Experience with analytical risk assessment techniques (e.g. HAZOP, LOPA, fault and event trees, analysing historical data).
Ability to integrate into and work with a team. This includes the ability to work remotely with other team members who are interstate.
Fluent in the use of Phast/Safeti and PHA-Pro. Experience extracting SQL data from Phast/Safeti.
Familiar with GIS software QGIS
Previous experience with Python software for analysing large data sets.
