ABOUT THE POSITION
Matthew Flinders Anglican College is seeking to appoint a Visual Arts Technician to provide essential assistance and support to classroom Teachers within the Visual Art Department.
The primary objectives of this role are to:
Coordinate the provision of classroom materials and resources, including managing the maintenance of equipment, materials and resources within departmental budget guidelines.
Organise and assist in rotating displays of student work - in The Gallery, Performance Centre (PC) and Administration areas.
Uphold safety standards and compliance requirements related to workplace health and safety, and safety within the classroom environment. This objective involves regularly inspecting equipment, managing inventory, and coordinating repairs and servicing as needed.
This is a part-time position working Thursday and Friday during school term times from 8.00am to 4.00pm
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate for this position will be a proactive and organised individual with a strong interest in the Visual Arts and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting student creativity.
They will be someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in ensuring that the learning spaces and materials are well-prepared, safe, and inspiring for both staff and students.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Experience or training as a Teacher Assistant in Visual Arts or a related field, with a working knowledge of art materials, equipment, and techniques
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Confidence in maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, and coordinating repairs and servicing
An understanding of workplace health and safety regulations relevant to an arts environment
A creative eye and attention to detail, particularly when assisting with the presentation and display of student work
A flexible and positive approach, with the willingness to assist teachers and contribute to the broader goals of the Visual Art Department
Previous experience working in an educational or arts-based setting will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
