We are seeking a passionate Teacher, experienced in teaching Stage 1 and 2 Visual Art.
This is a rare opportunity to join a unique school that is leading the way in education.
About SASY
SASY's vision is to create a caring environment where disengaged young people with complex needs are reconnected through holistic educational experiences that improve wellbeing and reignite their interest in learning.
Established in 2016, SASY caters for students in Years 8-12 whose needs are better met by learning structures that may not be available in all mainstream schools. As a non-government school, SASY follows the national curriculum and SACE.
We are a growing independent secondary school with a key focus on trauma-informed practices, inclusion, restorative practice, and wellbeing as fundamental principles in working with vulnerable and disengaged youth.
About the Role
We are seeking a teacher who feels passionately about teaching in an alternative learning environment and/or with vulnerable, disengaged young people.
Ideally, we are seeking a teacher with experience delivering curriculum to Secondary School students with a project-based focus and the ability to adapt curriculum to the students' personal interests and needs.
Experience teaching within the area of Stage 1 and 2 Visual Art is essential.
The ideal candidate is:
A passionate and flexible educator with experience in Stage 1 and 2 Visual Art.
Experienced in working with students who may be reluctant to engage with learning, and comfortable letting the interests of students guide them.
Passionate about their learning area but also open to learning and growing their knowledge across SACE.
Able to provide examples of project-based learning they have implemented.
Experienced within a multi-disciplinary team, working towards shared goals.
Seeking an opportunity to work within an environment aiming to provide education to students in need of something different.
