As we grow, we're looking for a talented Design Manager to join our team and take charge of the design coordination across projects—from concept to construction delivery.

The Role

Based at our Newstead office and reporting directly to the Team Leader, the Design Manager will oversee and coordinate all aspects of the design process across our projects.

You will work closely with consultants, clients, estimators, and project teams to ensure that designs are functional, buildable, compliant, and aligned with program, cost, and quality targets. You’ll play a hands-on role in both industrial construction and high-quality fitout projects, offering variety and full visibility across the business.

This is a leadership role that blends technical knowledge, stakeholder engagement, and commercial thinking—perfect for a senior coordinator ready to step up or a current Design Manager seeking broader ownership and career growth.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design process from concept to construction documentation (IFC)

Coordinate inputs from architectural, structural, civil, and services consultants

Review and manage design milestones to meet procurement and construction programs

Facilitate design workshops, client presentations, and design sign-off processes

Perform constructability reviews and drive practical, cost-effective solutions

Monitor consultant performance and manage document deliverables

Support tenders, scope reviews, and risk assessments from a design perspective

Translate design intent into buildable outcomes with minimal disruption on site

About You

You’re a practical and solutions-oriented Design Manager who understands how to balance form, function, and construction realities. You value proactive communication and enjoy being embedded within a team. You’re as comfortable working with architects and consultants as you are with subcontractors and site supervisors.

You’ll bring:

Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management

Minimum 5+ years’ experience in design coordination or management

Strong understanding of NCC/BCA, Australian Standards, and construction methodology

Experience working across both industrial and commercial fitout projects

Proven ability to manage design risk and lead consultant teams

Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills
