A06 Senior Policy Officer - Queensland Government

We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Policy Officer to join our team and play a key role in developing evidence-based policy solutions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to shaping policy and legislative issues within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

6 month contract with possible 6 month extension

Key Responsibilities:

Identify, research, develop, and analyse policy and legislation issues. Work as part of a team to create evidence-based policy solutions.

Prepare expert advice on relevant policy, legislation, and systemic issues.

Plan, implement, and monitor policy projects to achieve outcomes within strict timeframes.

Liaise and consult with various departments to identify issues and develop practical policy and legislative solutions.

Represent the team in internal policy discussions and relevant working groups.

Prepare high-quality written materials, including briefing notes, memorandums for approval, project plans, correspondence, discussion papers, and reports.

Skills & Experience Required:

Proven experience in policy development and analysis, with a strong understanding of policy and legislative frameworks.

Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate documentation.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to consult, negotiate, and represent the team in internal discussions.

Desirable Skills:

Previous experience working within the Queensland Government or similar public sector environment is highly regarded.

Ability to navigate complex legislative processes and regulatory environments.
