A07 Principal Policy Officer - Queensland Government
We are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Policy Officer to join our team. This senior role will play a critical part in shaping and influencing the Government's Child and Family policy agenda, with a focus on strategic research, analysis, and project leadership. The successful candidate will lead the development of high-level submissions, legislative frameworks, and policy advice for senior stakeholders.
- 6 months with possible 6 month extension

Key Responsibilities:
Undertake strategic research and analysis to prepare high-level policy advice for senior management, the Minister, and Director-General.
Lead strategic policy projects, including the development of Cabinet submissions, submissions to the Cabinet Budget Review Committee, and evaluation frameworks.
Research and provide advice on contemporary policy and legislative frameworks based on evidence and best practices.
Prepare high-quality written materials, including briefing notes, project plans, correspondence, discussion papers, and reports.
Build and maintain productive partnerships with stakeholders to ensure effective consultation and negotiation on strategic policy issues.
Develop service system responses and represent the unit on committees and working groups.
Apply project management methodologies to ensure work programs are delivered on time, within budget, and meet performance requirements.
Assist with the team's Cabinet and Parliamentary work program, ensuring alignment with Government commitments and Ministerial directions.
Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience in strategic policy development and analysis, with a strong understanding of policy, legislative frameworks, and government processes.
Strong leadership and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple complex projects and meet deadlines.
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-level documents and reports.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop and maintain productive partnerships.
A strong focus on evidence-based policy, with experience in applying best practices locally, nationally, and internationally.
Desirable Skills:
Previous experience working within the Queensland Government or similar public sector environment.
