We’re looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to join as the first dedicated member of our Platform Engineering team. While the product is established, we’re now entering a phase of growth and expansion, in particular into new markets, including the US. This role is all about evolving and improving our existing infrastructure, tooling, and developer experience to support that scale. You’ll have the chance to make a big impact by levelling up what’s already there, modernising our platform, and setting the direction for how we build and operate systems as we grow.

We produce mobile and web apps that are branded and published for our clients, all powered by a shared backend and API hosted on AWS infrastructure. We are a small, agile team with clients across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the USA. Our head office and product team are based in Melbourne, with global sales and support teams on the ground. We also have a dedicated team in the Philippines handling customer support, merchant support, and engineering.

What you’ll be doing

As a member of the Platform Engineering team, you will play a key role in evolving and scaling the systems that underpin our product and development teams. You’ll work with a mix of existing tools and infrastructure—Prometheus, Grafana, Ansible, AWS, Buildkite, and Vercel—while driving improvements in reliability, automation, alerting, and developer experience. A major focus will be leading our transition to a more modern, scalable platform using EKS (Kubernetes), helping us meet the demands of larger clients and increased global traffic.

More specifically, you’ll:

Take ownership of our core infrastructure and tooling, building scalable, reliable, and observable systems.

Lead the transition to a Kubernetes-based architecture using Amazon EKS.

Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using Ansible and AWS-native tooling, transitioning towards Terraform in the new architecture.

Own and evolve our monitoring, alerting, and observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager etc.).

Collaborate with development teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite), drive standards through plugins and tooling, and improve deployment reliability.

Support and optimise our use of platforms like Vercel for web delivery.

Establish internal best practices for security, reliability, and automation across the stack.

Act as a technical leader and trusted advisor in how we build and scale infrastructure across the business.

Help define the long-term roadmap for the platform engineering function.

Collaborate with select individuals in development teams in joint architecture decisions.

What we’re looking for

Proven experience in a Platform, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or similar role.

Strong hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure—preferably AWS.

Solid understanding of container orchestration, ideally with Kubernetes and EKS.

Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus and Grafana.

Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).

Experience with modern CI/CD workflows, ideally using Buildkite or similar.

A passion for automation, developer enablement, and operational excellence.

Strong collaboration and communication skills—you’ll be working across teams and helping drive change.

An opinionated, but pragmatic and flexible approach to platform design and operations.

Comfortable being a champion in the space.
