About the role:

Service Delivery Transformation Command (SDTC) is a specialist area within Victoria Police that works across the organisation to design, develop and implement a service delivery and operating model that will better enable Victoria Police to serve the community by:

  • Improving outcomes for victims,
  • Releasing resources to increase presence and visibility of frontline police,
  • Better manage demand and reduce the duplication of effort,
  • Making best use of information, diverse expertise and technology,
  • Partnering with the appropriate range of key stakeholders, and
  • Integrating more effectively with the wider service sector.

SDTC is seeking a collaborative and proactive project management specialist to provide project support expertise within a small project team. The role will manage project information to deliver reporting for multiple purposes and the position holds a holistic view of resources, budget, project risks and issues and monitors progress against project plans.

The project support officer will work across multiple projects and programs depending on requirements and demand.

The role requires a background in project management discipline, methodology and governance, good time management skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to write high level communication and a proven ability to establish and sustain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Your duties will include:

  • Coordinate the development of accurate and up to date program documentation including project plans and registers, status reports and presentations.
  • Maintain the SDTC project Management Framework, including project artefacts in relation to governance, budget, scope, schedule, risks, issues, communications, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain and report on central registers of risk, issues and actions relating to projects.
  • Develop and maintain program reports for assigned projects and business initiatives.
  • Provide secretariat functions for the governance arrangements to support the delivery of SDTC projects, including facilitating communication between members, stakeholders and external partners, and ensuring timely dissemination of information and updates, scheduling meetings, managing calendars, developing agendas, minutes, presentations, research, papers and other tasks as required.
  • Support resource planning across SDTC including procurement activities as needed.
  • Track and escalate program risks and issues and provide support in developing mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Determine priorities, meet strict timelines, and effectively balance competing demands with minimal supervision, working independently or as a member of a team.

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Experience in project and change management, including project documentation and risk management.
  • Experience in working within a team environment.
  • Understanding of legislation, policies, public sector issues, and procedures relevant to Victoria Police.
  • Effective time management skills, ability to self-motivate and operate as part of a high-performing team.
  • Strong integrity and discretion
  • Other duties as directed, which may include but not limited to supervision and team leader duties.

Further Information:

  • Three (3) VPS4 x full time fixed term positions available until 30/6/2026.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
