PenAgri Farms is a significant mixed farming operation located 35 km southeast of Dongara in the Mingenew, Three Springs and Dongara shires. PenAgri Farms operates four properties, Mt Adams, Arrowsmith, Eraramba and Rainey Plains and crops in total over 9,000 Ha comprising of wheat, canola and lupins which will be increasing to 12,300 Ha by 2026..

PenAgri Farms existing sheep flock consists of approximately 3,000 Merino ewes crossed to White Suffolk Rams and 9,500 cleanskin ewes crossed with Sheepmaster rams. The flock will be transitioning to only Sheepmaster type ewes and rams as the merino flock is phased out.

Position Overview

The Farm Assistant role will be part of the PenAgri Farms permanent team comprising of the five staff and will be integral in implementing the aggregations overall strategy as well as executing the day-to-day activities of the aggregation’s operation. You will need to have at least 3 years experience in a similar role in a similar environment and be interested in career development in the field.

The role will primarily be as an operator within the cropping operation which is overseen by the Cropping Manager Alex Longford. This will include operating a sprayer, harvester, truck driving, fertilizer and lime spreading and soil amelioration. The role will also include machinery and property repairs, maintenance and general improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrate Work Health and Safety (WHS) as a first priority at all times.

Machinery operations including:

Spraying

Harvesting

Tractor driving

Truck Driving

Machinery repairs and maintenance

Property improvements and general presentation

Working closely with the PenAgri Farms management team to implement the overall business strategy

General farm operational tasks

Community relationships

Facilitate all reporting requirements

Support in overseeing and training of casual employees
