Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Government Contract

Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract: 6 months
Security Clearance: Must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain Baseline clearance
Work Arrangement: Onsite, with flexible working arrangements considered

Join a dynamic government department supporting critical ICT infrastructure. This is an opportunity for a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer to contribute to key projects, ensuring the stability and security of the organisation’s data centre operations.
Your Role:

• Oversee the daily operations of the department’s primary data centre, including rack management, cabling, and space optimisation.
• Monitor system performance and utilisation through tools such as vROPs and EcoStruxure DCE/DCO.
• Ensure compliance with security best practices and maintain high availability of infrastructure.
• Coordinate with vendors for maintenance, upgrades, and compliance.
• Play a key technical role in a major data centre upgrade project, focusing on AC and UPS replacements.
• Provide technical insights on market offerings, evaluating system pros and cons.
• Develop design, build, and operational documentation to support ongoing infrastructure management.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders, delivering clear communication and technical presentations.

About You:

• Proven experience managing data centre operations, with expertise in rack management, cabling, and performance monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure upgrades, particularly around AC and UPS systems.
• Ability to assess market offerings and provide well-informed technical recommendations.
• Skilled in producing high-quality documentation for processes and procedures.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage technical teams and stakeholders.
• Understanding of government security frameworks (Essential 8, PSPF) at a Protected level.
