Our utilities sector client has an opportunity for a skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join their team on an initial 12 month contract.

The Data Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the development lifecycle of the new Enterprise Data & Analytics Service (EDAS) Microsoft Azure platform.

This role offers a unique chance to work in a collaborative team environment alongside Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Data Modellers, and BI Solution Architects.

You'll be part of a forward-thinking data engineering team focused on delivering modern data and analytics solutions within the Azure ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data platform requirements and design data solutions.
• Develop metadata driven ETL/ELT processes using various tools, including but not limited to, Data Flow, REST APIs, SOAP WSDL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Purview, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Stream AnalyticsConfigure and manage resources like Azure Key Vault, Log Analytics, and Monitor for effective platform management.
• Focus on data warehouse optimization and performance analysis to enhance user experience and system efficiency.
• Contribute to the development of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for automated deployments across all environments.
• Perform unit testing, peer reviews, and maintain best practices for code management and branching.
• Engage in Agile sprint planning sessions, proactively communicating risks and providing updates.

Technical skills and experience required

• 8+ years of Business Intelligence experience, with 4+ years working with Azure technologies.
• Expertise in designing and implementing data warehouse solutions, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling.
• Experience in automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and API integration.
• Ability to thrive in Agile environments and deliver incremental business value.
• Strong problem-solving, adaptability, and resilience in ambiguous situations.
