IP Recruitment are seeking an experienced Workshop Leading Hand to join our client's equipment dealership in Kewdale. As the Workshop Leading Hand, you will play a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our workshop, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of maintenance and repair services on surface mining, horizontal drills, vacuum excavators and environmental equipment. While this is a hands on role (leading a small team) you will also perform supervisory, training, safety and administrative duties along with regular customer communication.
To be considered for this role applicants will need to have experience and be competent with completing the below.
Supervise and coordinate the workshop team, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring quality standards are met
Liaise with clients to understand their maintenance requirements and develop effective solutions
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a variety of mining equipment and machinery
Ensure all work is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner, while adhering to relevant safety and environmental regulations
Work closely with the Service Manager and cover the role during leave periods
Mentor and train junior team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Assist with the management of inventory, tools, and workshop resources
Collaborate with the broader team to identify and implement process improvements
As well as being able to complete the above all applicants will need to meet the below minimum requirements to be considered for this role.
Be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia
Relevant trade qualifications or certifications (e.g. Certificate III - Mechanical Trade, Fitting Trade or HD Fitter)
Extensive experience (3+ years) in a leading hand or supervisory role within a mining or heavy industrial workshop environment
Hold and maintain a current HR licence
Have proficient computer skills and preferably be competent with scheduling, invoicing and diagnostic software
Strong technical expertise in the maintenance and repair of a variety of mobile plant
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients and manage a team
Commitment to safety and a proven track record of promoting safe work practices
Be able to pass a pre employment medical and DAS
