About the Role

As the Manager, Development Advisory & Insights, you will lead and guide the Development Advisory Service team with expertise and vision. Your main responsibilities include managing the department's operations, team, budget and resources while ensuring its goals align with Council's Community Strategic Plan.

You will lead the department in delivering high calibre, efficient and responsive advice and customer-focused services relating to the areas of building and development, statutory planning, environmental management and urban design within an environment of continuous improvement. You will provide expert, timely, and professional advice to the executive team, senior management, customers, and stakeholders on efficient delivery of planning processes, development applications, policy, strategic projects and business improvements.

This role focuses on building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and delivering successful and efficient outcomes for Council in close collaboration with the Development Assessment and Strategic Planning teams and other related internal stakeholders.

About you

You will have experience driving continuous improvements to increase productivity, enhance service quality and promote a consistent, high-standard approach to project execution while boosting the customer experience.

This is a great opportunity to apply your town planning expertise and leadership skills in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. With strong experience in development assessment, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, you will have a track record of driving service improvements and leading high-performing teams.

In addition, you will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or a related discipline,
  • Demonstrated people management experience in development assessment, strategic land use planning, environmental management or urban design teams,
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a collaborative team-building approach,
  • Exceptional communication skills, including experience presenting to Council, Planning Panels and external agencies,
  • Excellent critical analysis and analytical skills,
  • Excellent knowledge of local and state planning legislation, policy, compliance frameworks, and risk management,
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage complex projects, business plans, resource management, budgets and strategic initiatives,
  • Extensive experience developing and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships

Your commencing annual salary will range from $182,132.46 to $203,310.65 + Superannuation, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
