About the role:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team on a full-time basis at Barto Gold in Southern Cross. This is an 8/6 position, day shift only. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, refurbishment, and alignment of mechanical components and piping associated with fixed plant assets within our mining process facility. Reporting to the Supervisor and Stand-in Supervisor, you will contribute to maintaining and repairing mechanical plant and equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of our mining processes. You will work collaboratively with other team members to deliver high-quality mechanical services aligned with our safety standards and operational objectives.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Prioritize safety by meticulously completing all required documentation, including Go-to-Go checklists, Safe Work Instructions, Job Hazard Analyses, and permits to work, before initiating any task.
Consistently adhere to and actively promote safety protocols, ensuring proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) tailored to each specific work scenario.
Perform thorough pre-start checks on machinery, equipment, and tools to guarantee their operational safety and readiness for use.
Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings and technical schematics to accurately plan work layouts, determine precise measurements, and establish efficient sequences for mechanical assignments.
Utilize a comprehensive array of hand tools and specialized techniques to expertly maintain, replace, and repair a wide variety of mechanical plant equipment, consistently meeting high-quality standards.
Execute precise installation and alignment of mechanical components, employing advanced tools such as dial indicators, laser alignment systems, feeler gauges, and other precision instruments to achieve specified tolerance levels.
Take charge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of critical systems including piping networks, valves, pumps, screening equipment, material feeders, and lubrication and hydraulic systems integral to fixed plant operations.
Apply keen observational skills to identify and assess defective or worn components and equipment, promptly initiating necessary repairs or replacements to maintain operational efficiency.
Demonstrate versatility by willingly undertaking various tasks beyond standard mechanical fitting duties when directed by supervisors, contributing to overall operational flexibility.
About you:
Australian recognized mechanical trade certificate.
Valid Australian Driver's License.
Current Working at Heights certification.
Current Confined Space Entry Training.
Australian High Risk Work License in Forklift and EWP (desirable).
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar capacity in the mining/construction industry.
Proficiency in installation and maintenance of fixed plant mechanical equipment, including pumps, crushers, mill, and conveyor drive systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Strong time management and prioritization skills.
Demonstrated willingness to follow policies and procedures.
