Established over 30 years ago to service local industry of metropolitan Melbourne, Inver Engineering has developed into a substantial and respected engineering firm. Servicing businesses across the rail, steel, ports, oil & gas and manufacturing industries, we are based in Altona but out clientele are Australia wide.
Our ongoing workflow has resulted in an opportunity to further expand our existing workforce. We seek experienced and Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitters or Fitter and Turners to join our operations.
What you will do:
- The role will primarily deal with the full stripping, rebuild and testing of gearboxes for the rail (train and tram) industry.
- High level involvement in the inspection, measurement, assembly and testing of various rolling stock (train) componentry and equipment;
- Hands on involvement outside of the gearbox program with the dismantle, repair, overhaul and assembly of bogies;
- Extensive use of verniers, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, power and hand tools;
- Working within a production based facility, in a task dedicated team environment;
- Be responsible for the quality of your workmanship.
- Day Shift Position(Mon to Thurs 6am - 2:30pm, Fri 6am to 12pm)
- Overtime possibilities for those interested (not mandatory), including Saturday work.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Applicants MUST have full Australian working rights. Applicants who require and/or seeking sponsorship will not be considered.
- Australian recognised qualifications as a Fitter and Turner, Mechanical Fitter or Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trades.
- Exceptional fitting and measurement skills where you'll utilise experience to perform tasks such as overhaul, preventative maintenance, fit out and assembly of mechanical equipment.
- Previous experience in component overhauls and rebuilds ideally in rail, automotive, defense, manufacturing, aviation, or other like industries.
- Use a range of precision measurement equipment, machinery, hand and power tools.

- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Full working rights within Australia.
Highly Regarded:
- Extensive Fitting experience
- Previous Rail/Rolling Stock oe heavy engineering experience
- Valid High Risk Work Licence (preference for WP, DG, LF)
