About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Quality and Innovation Unit provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, programs, models and policies for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Well-being. The Unit will develop and manage to maturity; enhanced service delivery models in new and expanded functional IUIH services and programs.

About the Role?

Reporting to the Manager - Data and Research, the research manager will:

  • Support project managers and investigators to coordinate research activity, project resourcing, performance monitoring, milestone delivery and other research-related activity, as necessary.
  • Identify and support the development of new research opportunities that align with IUIH’s strategic plan.
  • Coordinate the ongoing development of systems, processes and tools to enhance research knowledge, skills and capability across the IUIH Network, building on existing collaborations with external research organisations, and supporting both formal and informal opportunities for advancement of Indigenous research career pathways.
  • Carry and / or contribute directly to the conduct of research projects in keeping with interests, skills and time / capacity.

About You?

  • Experience in the management and delivery of research in a team environment
  • Excellent time and project management skills with a proven record of successfully managing all aspects of medium to large scale projects through to completion, in accordance with project management methodologies, standards, timeframes and budgets
  • Commitment to the principles and practice of Aboriginal community governance and control
  • Familiarity with the concepts of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander terms of reference and research methodologies
  • Understanding of national research policies, procedures, funding streams and issues and be able to understand their relevance and application in the context of IUIH’s research
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Postgraduate qualification

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
