Senior Management Accountant – Surface Mining

About the Company A leading surface mining company is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join its high-performing finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, partnering with key business stakeholders to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.

About the Role Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Management Accountant will be responsible for executive reporting, financial analysis, business unit performance tracking, and stakeholder engagement. The role requires strong commercial acumen and business partnering skills to provide data-driven insights that enhance cost control, profitability, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monthly Executive Reporting: Ensure the accurate preparation of the Group Executive Reporting Pack within month-end timelines, including consolidated financials, group dashboards, divisional commentary, and business metrics.
• Performance & Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and review major project performance, working closely with business units to assess overall profitability.
• Cost Control & Monitoring: Provide weekly cost analysis to business divisions, investigating unusual trends and driving cost efficiencies.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnering: Work closely with operational and commercial teams, attending monthly BU meetings and providing financial insights and accounting advice.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Consolidate and manage budget and forecasting processes for the plant division.
• Financial & Management Accounting: Prepare monthly financial reports, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations while ensuring the accuracy of direct reports’ reconciliations.
• Inventory & Lease Management: Review inventory processes, reconcile stock monthly, and oversee lease maintenance within SAP leasing module.
• Strategic Support: Provide analytical insights and financial guidance to the GM Commercial, helping to improve business performance and decision-making.

About You:

• CA or CPA qualified
• 5+ years in commerce, 2+ years within a surface mining setting
• Proven experience in management reporting, dashboards, variance analysis, and performance tracking
• Strong ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality outputs
• Excellent business partnering and stakeholder management skills
• Experience within the mining and resources industry (preferred)
• Proficiency in SAP
