Alfabs Protective Coatings is seeking an experienced and dynamic Protective Coatings Workshop Supervisor for the afternoon shift to oversee and manage operations within our APC workshop. Reporting to the Operations Manager– APC, the Workshop Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of all tasks in the workshop, while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and productivity. You will lead, mentor, and support your team, ensuring they adhere to high standards of performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise APC Workshop: Manage the paint and blast workshop to ensure work is completed, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards, in line with project requirements.

Shift Operations: Oversee the shift start-up, including opening the workshop, allocating tasks, conducting pre-start checks, supervising shift progress, and ensuring quality assurance.

Efficient Operations: Collaborate with APC management to identify and implement operational efficiencies within the workshop to enhance productivity.

Leadership & Mentoring: Provide clear direction, leadership, and mentoring to Leading Hands and workshop team members. Actively develop Leading Hands for succession planning.

Workplace Standards & Safety: Advise the workshop team on required work standards, new procedures, and identify hazards associated with specific tasks to ensure safety and compliance.

Skills and Experience:

Minimum 12+ months experience in industrial painting/blasting

Proven experience in workshop supervision or a similar role within the protective coatings industry.

Experience with airless and conventional spray application

Experience applying protective coating by brush and roller

Surface preparation experience, including use of mechanical tools

Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of quality.

Other desirable skills/qualities:

Trade certificate or relevant qualification

Strong work ethic

Reliable and driven

Experience working on mining, construction and infrastructure projects
