Position: Cook
Location: Yum Yum Café Bakery
Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 AUD per year (Full-time position)

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, season and cook food according to the restaurant’s standard recipes

Be competent in safe use of kitchen plant, equipment and techniques.

Be familiar with all aspects of menu planning

Have the ability to pass skills and knowledge onto other cooks and kitchen helpers.

Portion and plate meals, adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes to enhance presentation.

Store food properly in temperature-controlled environments to maintain freshness and safety.

Have a good understanding of the operational management of a commercial kitchen including costing, stock taking, cost control, ordering, waste minimization and rostering.

Tailor dishes to meet special dietary needs and preferences.

Assist with menu planning and estimate food requirements.

Train and guide kitchen staff and apprentices, ensuring a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.

Be responsible in the absence of the head chef or chef on duty

Qualifications:

Highly relevant qualifications, such as a Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality are required.

Higher education qualifications related to the field will be considered an advantage.

Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen is essential. Additional years of experience will be highly regarded.
