The role

This role leads a range of strategic policy, program and project activities to enable Queensland Health to efficiently and effectively discharge its system manager functions. You will prepare high-level briefing documents, submissions, correspondence, project plans and reports on complex policy and project issues and initiate and manage, in consultation with key stakeholders (Commonwealth and State), the development of strategic policies and project activities that address priority health issues, population groups and reforms in the health system.

Furthermore, you will provide expert advice and support on the development of strategic and State-wide policy and projects for Queensland Health that is consistent with strategic priorities while establishing and maintaining networks with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful person

The successful applicant will have a proven track record in managing projects. You will have strong writing skills and be experienced at preparing policy and project materials for a range of audiences. You will have exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to negotiate with, and influence, stakeholders to achieve high-quality policy and project outcomes.

You will have demonstrated:

  • high-level strategic, conceptual, leadership and analytical skills relevant to a range of social and health priority areas
  • the ability to manage projects, undertake research, interpret trends and provide detailed critical analysis of reports, discussion papers and other documentation and to provide advice on policies and major projects
  • high-level verbal communication skills, including experience confidently and clearly negotiating and presenting complex concepts and advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • high-level written communication skills, including ability to autonomously compile complex policy-related reports, discussion papers, submissions, and ministerial correspondence to a high quality.
