We are looking for a Sous Chef for our beautiful French-inspired restaurant and bar.

What you'll be doing

As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and customer service.

  • Assist the Head Chef in the overall management and supervision of the kitchen team
  • Prepare, cook and present a variety of dishes to Herve's high standards
  • Ensure all food preparation and cooking meets food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Contribute to the menu development process and suggest new and innovative dishes
  • Manage and train kitchen staff to maintain efficiency and high-quality service
  • Order and maintain stock levels of kitchen supplies and ingredients
  • Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to deliver an exceptional dining experience

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Sous Chef in a busy restaurant environment (we are also willing to train the right junior Sous Chef or experienced Chef de Partie)
  • Formal culinary training or qualifications in hospitality or related field
  • Experience in French Cuisine an advantage (but all applicants considered)
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen operations
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Creative flair and passion for developing innovative and delicious menu items
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a close-knit team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
