Operations Officers - Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce

Hourly Rate: $42 - $43

About the Role:

Our government client is responsible for the monitoring and eradication of harmful invasive pests across Southeast Queensland and nationally. They are currently seeking motivated Operations Officers to support the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce (FAST) in conducting field assessments and assisting with aerial treatment operations.

This role is essential in measuring fire ant densities, maintaining accurate data records, and ensuring the effective delivery of treatment operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake training in scientific methods for measuring fire ant densities in the field.
• Conduct rapid assessment surveys of fire ant nest densities before and after aerial treatment.
• Utilize additional scientific methods to assess treatment effectiveness and fire ant populations.
• Maintain meticulous records of all fire ant data collected, ensuring compliance with established processes.
• Liaise with team members and external stakeholders to support quality assurance, data storage, and record-keeping.
• Assist in the delivery of treatment products and equipment to landholders and aerial contractors if required.
• Work autonomously, using a high level of initiative and problem-solving skills to support the aerial treatment project.

Mandatory Requirements:

• A current, unrestricted 'C' class driver's licence.
• Full working rights - No Limitations.
• National Police Clearance - Dated within 12 months

Highly Desirable:

• A forklift and/or order picker licence will be highly regarded.
