InterGrain is a leader in cereal breeding in Australia; and our highly successful wheat, barley and oat breeding programs are designed to target the major cereal growing regions of Australia. Our quality laboratory is based in Bibra Lake, WA, and our laboratory technicians perform a wide range of quality testing on cereal grain products of wheat, barley, and oats.
We are seeking an energetic, proactive, and suitably qualified individual to join our quality laboratory team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong sense of initiative, showing the ability to take charge of tasks and work independently while also thriving in a collaborative environment. With a keen attention to detail, they will bring a positive, forward-thinking attitude to the lab, ensuring high-quality work and continuous improvement in all aspects of the role. The successful candidate will be well-equipped with the necessary skills and qualifications to make an immediate impact, contributing to the success of our team and the growth of our laboratory.
Key Activities of the Role:
- Clean and prepare grain samples for testing.
- Perform routine quality tests on grain, flour, and dough.
- Make wheat end products and evaluate their quality.
- Keep laboratory equipment and glassware clean, well-maintained, and in proper working order.
- Accurately record, interpret, and process data.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with team members and the manager.
- Participate in laboratory proficiency programs.
- Organise and properly store samples.
- Ensure a tidy and safe workspace at all times.
- Perform tasks in both warehouse and laboratory settings.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or a related field.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting.
- Strong organisational skills with the capacity to manage and prioritise tasks efficiently.
- Capable of maintaining focus and accuracy while completing tasks in a timely manner.
- Comfortable working autonomously and collaborating effectively within a team.
- Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and speaking.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office programs.
- Capable of lifting and transporting megabins, grain samples, and participating in manual handling tasks.
