About the role

The role of Operations Manager - Fabrication is an exciting opportunity for an industry leading and experienced professional to enter this high quality organisation during an exciting period of growth and company evolution.

Overseeing the entire process from estimating to delivery and everything in between, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the organisations three state of the art and modern workshops as well as their high performing workforce, ensuring that they are functioning efficiently and at an industry leading level.

Based in our clients brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in Henderson you will have the opportunity to work with blue-chip clients, industry leading technical personnel and an organisation known by its clients for their quality, efficiency and reliability.

Your role will include but not be limited to the following;

  • Provide and maintain a healthy and safe work environment in accordance with company’s accredited WHS system and relevant legislation.
  • Review, plan and implement training to ensure personnel are suitably qualified to perform necessary tasks efficiently.
  • Oversee the planning of all project related work, ensuring that team activities are planned and prioritised in line with company strategy.
  • Develop, implement and maintain business unit operational plans as per the company’s strategic business plan.
  • Ensure the accountability of the project teams in the delivery of projects in a timely manner and within budget.
  • Ensure target turnover per annum and margin per annum is achieved as determined and agreed by the Managing Director.
  • Co-ordinate the preparation and timely submission of all close out reports to clients.
  • Ensure the accountability of project teams and supervisors in the delivery of projects in a timely manner and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance at all times with company and client HSEQ standards and ensure accurate and timely completion of necessary HSEQ documentation.
  • Facilitate the recruitment, induction, training and development and performance management within the workshop.
  • Promote and foster positive communication both within the workshop and between the workshop and other operational areas of the business.
  • Take responsibility for the management and sign-off of non-conformances and incidents.
  • Coach and develop the skills and progression of the personnel within department.
  • Achieve business development objectives both short and long term, tender success rate, target clients.
  • Identify new business opportunities and evaluate their viability and potential when required.
  • Act as a conduit between project managers and general managers, facilitating strong relationships across the organisation.

Skills and experience

You will possess the following qualifications / practical experience:

  • Trade certification or tertiary qualification in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with relevant supervision and management
  • Industry and technical subject matter expertise, relevant to the business unit
  • Valid motor vehicle drivers’ licence (WA - C class)
  • Ongoing compliance to Company’s Fitness for work policy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound computer literacy, especially regarding spreadsheets and financial reporting.
  • Sound ability to management multiple conflicting priorities, complex problem solving and working under pressure
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Willingness to learn and continually develop skills to suit a growing and dynamic company
  • Project management and management of project manager skills
  • Good knowledge of HSEQ systems, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrated desire to develop people, processes, and resources

  • Time management, planning, organisational and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects

  • Critical eye for detail and accuracy.
