The role:

The Operations Manager will play a crucial role in scaling a sustainable supply chain. This includes managing and optimising the production processes and distribution operations while maintaining great product quality, products, and strong relationships externally and internally. The role requires a practical and strategic thinker with strong supplier and people management skills. Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including project delivery and sales, you will:

Key responsibilities:

• Manage International and Local suppliers to ensure all aspects of manufacturing processes meet QA and Australian standards
• Develop new suppliers internationally and locally, involving travel
• Manage the warehouse and distribution team, ensuring accurate inventory management, efficient order fulfilment, and seamless supply chain and logistics operations.

• Record, measure and review supplier performance to ensure products meet critical QA standards and deliver finished products on time and in full
• Collaborate closely with the sales and project delivery team to coordinate inventory needs, prioritise orders, and ensure timely delivery of finished products to the Brisbane and Perth warehouse
• Analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic initiatives to drive continuous improvement
• Present monthly reports to the senior leadership team and attend monthly S&OP meetings
• Collaborate with the sales and the engineering team to understand customer requirements and manage the workflow with suppliers to ensure products are manufactured and delivered on time and to the highest quality.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to optimise productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency
• Implement and maintain best practices in the warehouse environment for health and safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
• Develop and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
• Proven operations management experience, focusing on the production, manufacturing and distribution of steel products
• Experience with steel fabrication and production processes, with an understanding of different types of welding, is preferred as you will be managing international and local suppliers
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve common goals
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritise, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
• Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and implement data-driven solutions that assist the organisation in improving supply chain functions
• Commitment to LEAN, continuous improvement and a passion for driving operational excellence
