Our community based non-profit child care centre in Lane Cove, NSW is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Customer Service Officer / Bookkeeper to join our team!
Reporting to the Centre Director, you will enjoy a supportive work environment for three to four days a week.
Flexible work arrangements, including WFH is available to the right candidate.
ABOUT THE ROLE – Duties
The bookkeeper is responsible for the management of all aspects of the Centre’s accounts, salaries, budget, monthly and end of year financial reporting requirements and key performance objectives. The bookkeeper will also assist in the provision of financial advice and information to the Parent Committee with respect to the Centre’s utilisation.
The position's key responsibilities are:
- To work collaboratively with the Director in all aspects of the Book keeper role.
- To provide the Director with all current details to assist the operating of the service.
- To assist in preparing the annual budget and working within it.
- To manage the service payroll – processing pays (fortnightly) and provide pay slips and group certificates to staff.
- To manage staff records and files - setting up and maintaining accurate records of staff appointments, contracts of employment, leave accruals, increments, records of TOIL, long service leave.
- To manage the payment of all service invoices.
- To manage banking and the reconciliation of the service Bank Accounts (monthly).
- Prepare, pay and reconcile staff superannuation (monthly)
- Preparation, payment and reconciliation of ATO Income Activity Instalment (monthly)
- Preparation and payment of ATO BAS (quarterly)
- Provide P&L and Balance Sheet reports to the Director, Treasurer and Parent Committee
- Maintain financial records, filing system, archiving and destroying documents.
- Manage applications for Inclusion Support funding and monitor receipt of grant funding payments
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
ABOUT YOU – Position Requirements
The ideal candidate shall have:
Essential
- 2years or more of proven experience with monthly reconciliation, BAS and IAS preparation, payroll, MYOB.
- Solid Proficiency in accounting software (MYOB preferably), payroll software (Bright HR), and MS Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Verbal communication skills to assist non-accounting people in understanding accounting matters.
- The ability to attain and maintain a Working with Children Check.
Desirable and highly regarded
- Not-For-Profit experience would be advantageous.
- High-level MYOB skills and experience.
- Experience in an early childhood setting
- Experience in Hub Hello (or equivalent), CCMS.
- Ability to work as a Team member.
- Experience with Bright HR.
- High-level attention to detail.
- Critical and analytical thinking.
- Risk management skills and experience.
- Investigation and deductive reasoning skills.
